A two-month voyage through the Australian Coast has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an elderly female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel realised the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation found her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and crew on the vessel were told that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be issued a full refund, and said the organization was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an latest statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Commander" banning any additional guests from entering the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.
